ð Extract: "The World Health Organization estimates that to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), health systems need at least 2.5 health workers per 1,000 people. In Mozambique, there are 514 doctors, 3,954 nurses, and 2,229 midwives: per 1,000 people there are 0.36 full-time equivalents of health workers (2004 figures)...To roll out antiretroviral therapy (ART) across the country, Mozambique estimates that it would need eight health workers per 1,000 patients receiving ART...the number of additional health workers required remains a huge challenge, knowing that 199,000 people in Mozambique needed ART by the end of 2005...In terms of expanding access to ART, no country faces a bigger health workforce crisis than Mozambique."

ð This PDF shows all HIV/AIDS medicines registered in Mozambique. Appearing on the list does NOT mean that the drug is available, and even less that it is affordable. On the other hand, not being on this list means that, as a rule, the drug is simply not available. You can create an updated version of this document via the Drug Regulatory Status Database of the WHO.
